SIX FEET of snuggly purple velvet- it's over 100 eggplant emojis long. Stretch velvet is lined to prevent fuzzies from escaping. Wrap it around yourself, make a hat! This is the ultimate gift for veggie lovers and emoji addicts.
But-- there's a darker side to this warm, fuzzy tale.
The design came about by accident-- the day I began to create a new eggplant was also the same day my neighbor was having her new taffy pulling machine delivered. She was not home when it arrived, and like a good neighbor I signed for the package and brought it into my studio to keep it safe. Little did I know I had signed a document that gave the taffy machine dominion over everything it came into contact with! Turns out my neighbor is not only a candy maker, but also a wizard. She was pretty peeved when she came home to see her neighbor's windows overflowing with strings, tubes, threads and hoses from where the machine had turned everything in my studio into much longer versions of the original.
As for me, I am now 2 feet taller and none of my pants fit right.
My wizard neighbor did put a stop to all the stretching, but now my mind is inexorably drawn to drawn-out things. Overly-long movies, string cheese, yards of ale and high-rise apartment buildings. As part of my recovery, I must get all these 6-foot-long eggplants out of my shop so I can begin to think in normal shapes again.
This eggplant is totally 100% vegan, and uses materials made from post-consumer plastics. Keep it out of the landfill!
Remember: Hug your veggies. And don't sign for packages if your neighbor is a wizard.🍆
My Jumbo Jibbles are designed and made in San Jose, California, in a beautiful studio that was once a roller skating rink. I began designing fruits and vegetables in 2011 as a silly project to help me destress from work. Making normal objects much bigger than they are in real life creates a spark in me. Holding a giant eggplant makes you feel smaller in comparison, and sometimes we just need to feel tiny and take a nap. Young or old, Jumbo Jibbles are for the sleepy times in all our lives.
