I was thinking shopping at the Mall of Memphis in Tennessee when I was a kid in the late 80s. We lived in a small town with just two clothing stores-- both a kind of 5-and-dime style, like a fin de siecle Ross Dress for Less. Going to Memphis was a big deal and usually came with a fancy dinner at my first ever Mexican restaurant, Pancho's.  For the first 6 years of my life, I was allowed to order cheese dip as an entre-- you can never go back to that kind of innocence.  Here's to remembering the softest times and knowing you must move forward, through the thick and thin. At least be comfortable while you do it.
